Description: CD133 (Prominin-1) is a glycoprotein with sub-cellular localization in plasma membrane protrusions. In humans, this protein was originally identified as an antigenic marker expressed on hematopoietic stem cells. In addition,CD133 is also expressed by neural and muscle progenitor cells. CD133+ cells are isolated in Gentaur's facilities from fresh cord blood. These cells are highly proliferative primitive progenitors. They can give rise to mature, terminally differentiated blood cells by means of directed differentiation. Gentaur also provides suitable expansion and differentiation media. Immediately after isolation, the freshly prepared CD133+ Progenitor Cells are cryopreserved using Gentaur's proprietary serum-free,animal component-free and defined freezing medium Cryo-SFM. Each cryo vial contains more than 100.000 viable cells after thawing. |

Description: CD34 is a glycosylated transmembrane protein and represents a well-known marker for primitive blood- and bone marrow-derived progenitor cells, especially for hematopoietic and endothelial progenitors. Although the biological functions of CD34 are largely unknown,recent data suggest that CD34 is involved in maintenance of the progenitor cells in a phenotypically undifferentiated state. Gentaur offers CD34+ Progenitor Cells from the cord blood of healthy donors, produced at Gentaur's cell culture facility. The CD34+ Progenitor Cells contain two main cellular subpopulations, hematopoietic and endothelial progenitor cells. Description: Gentaur Mononuclear Cells (MNC) represent the enriched lymphocyte and monocyte fraction of whole blood. They are isolated from umbilical cord blood and adult peripheral blood of healthy donors at Gentaur's cell culture facility. Mononuclear Cells from cord blood contain a relatively high percentage of primitive progenitor cells,whereas Mononuclear Cells from adult peripheral blood (hMNC-PB) contain large numbers of mature immune cells.Note: When culturing pooled hMNC-PB, a bidirectional allogeneic mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) is likely to occur during the first 48 hours. This will result in cell activation, blast transformation and T-cell proliferation. Thus, these cells are preferably used for several types of infectious virus tests, including neutralization assays. For HIV-related research, prior CD8+ T-cell depletion is recommended.Freshly collected whole blood is carefully separated by optimized low-density gradient centrifugation, effectively removing the granulocytes. In order to avoid general cell damage, red blood cells are gently depleted by proprietary techniques instead of using classic osmotic lysis protocols.
